Examples of underfloor heating installations
New College, Oxford University
Floormax installed a Rehau underfloor heating system at the New College in Oxford University. The Great Hall was founded in 1379 and is a unique building used for formal dinners and important conferences. Gifford Consulatnts specified the REHAU underfloor heating system at New College as it had no impact aesthetically on the look of the 14th century hall.
Rehau underfloor heating is particulary effective at heating buildings which, like the Great Hall have very high ceilings, i.e. Sports Halls, Churches and Atrium's. This is because the radiant heat from underfloor heating maintains the majority of the heat in the first two metres where occupants feel the benefit, with little heat be wasted at high level.
New College Oxford chose the REHAU underfloor heating system because of the application, the systems running costs, manitenace, reliability and the unobtrusive nature of the installation.
The REHAU underfloor heating system in this project was installed beneath the original Oak boarding around the perimeter and the beneath the original flagstones in the centre, giving authentic 14th century ambience with 21st century comfort of underfloor heating.
